Citeline Website

2021 Website: When I joined Citeline, we inherited an outdated website built on the Sitecore CMS. It had been developed by multiple teams over time, resulting in inconsistencies and a lack of essential functionality. For example, the navigation system, mimicked a mobile-style side menu, which proved difficult to use on desktop and led to frequent client complaints.

Additionally, the brand colours did not align with the publication’s identity, making the overall site feel disjointed and inconsistent.

Right image: Shows the menu in its expanded state. The menu remained open after selecting an option and had to be manually closed using the “X,” which negatively impacted the user experience.

2022 Website: I led this project to redesign the navigation bar into a horizontal menu. I also introduced a brand colour, ensuring it aligned with the established guidelines. When users hover over the menu, the top-level items are clearly highlighted and upon selection the text changes colour with an underline to indicate the active choice. This provides clear visual feedback on their selection (see bottom-right image).

The same navigation bar was implemented across six different publications, each assigned its own distinct brand colour. This was also tested with clients and we received very positive feedback, particularly regarding how much easier it was to navigate and find information across the site.

2025 Website: I supported the maintenance and development of the website, ensuring it met ongoing editorial needs. In early 2025, the company migrated the site to a new CMS called Arc XP, a platform designed specifically with journalists in mind. This transition offered several advantages over the previous CMS, including a more modern and flexible framework that better supported current web standards.
